Lee Jieun & Jang Seungwon (Puerto San Jose, Guatemala)

Missionaries Lee Jieun (Isabel) and Jang Seungwon are a married couple who currently lead Banseok Church and also support Banseok Elementary School in Puerto San Jose, Guatemala.

Missionary Jang’s mother, Lee Jung Sook, first began serving in Guatemala as an ordained missionary in 2001. Due to her love and call to serve the children in the neighborhood, she began a small orphanage as well as an elementary school. In 2011, she retired from ministry. Missionaries Jang and Lee have continued to faithfully minister in Guatemala.

Missionary Jang also provides acupuncture treatments to the community as a licensed acupuncturist. Missionary Lee also works for WorldShare, an international relief and development NGO committed to disaster relief, community empowerment, and community-building initiatives.

MinistrY HIGHLIGHTS

Banseok Elementary School

After being founded by Missionary Jang’s mother, Banseok Elementary School is now officially recognized by the Ministry of Education in Guatemala and is attended by over 300 students in Puerto San Jose. Missionaries Lee and Jang continue to provide their support for the school, especially with supporting teachers and staff, assisting in school maintenance and beautification, as well as helping to raise funds for school needs. They also provide summer VBS programs for the students at Banseok Elementary School.

Banseok Church

They lead a weekly church service for the children and families in Puerto San Jose through Banseok Church. Children are able to hear God’s Word faithfully preached, engage in learning opportunities, and grow in community. Parents also receive encouragement and equipping to raise up their families in the Lord.

Neighborhood Outreach

The missionaries carry out various outreach ministries such as home visitations, fumigation assistance, relief efforts, and community-wide events. They want to faithfully reach out to their neighbors in Puerto San Jose.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for comfort, relief, and protection in the midst of yearly challenges and damages caused by storms and monsoons.

  • Pray for both Banseok Elementary School and Banseok Church that they may faithfully teach and disciple the children to know and love the Lord.

  • Pray for good health, spiritual protection, strength, and provision for our missionaries.

  • Currently, they are praying about expanding into other ministries but also know that they are limited in resources and manpower. Pray that God will not only guide them in wisdom but also provide provisions and partners to join them.
