"Speak Truth" (Matthew 5:33-37)
Jesus continues his discourse on the Kingdom life, and once again seeks to make a correction on another important topic: speaking truthfully. Much like the religious leaders of Jesus’ day, we often make distinctions on when we should tell the truth and when we can bend it. Rather, we must speak truthfully with all our words, acknowledging that we are always speaking in the presence of God. Citizens of God's Kingdom do not need to bolster their words with oaths because they are wholeheartedly committed to speaking the truth at all times.
